How to retrieve Trouble Codes without the HDS  from the Climate control system.

The Climate control system has two Self-diagnostics modes, one shows trouble codes and the other displays HVAC sensors input.

Trouble Codes:

1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2. Press and hold the Auto button and then the OFF button, hold both buttons down.

If there are problems the temperature indicators will light a segment A through to Q and will alternate every second between 88 (all segments lit) and the error code.

If you release the Auto and OFF buttons the display will go blank, press them again to display the codes.

To cancel Self-diagnostics - turn the ignition OFF.

The Display sector and codes are shown below.
Multiple segments can be lit as a number of errors can be present, quite often pointing to a wiring or earthing issue.
Sensor Input Data:

The climate control can display Sensor input data, one at a time, to help determine if a sensor is faulty.

Before running, turn the ignition switch ON (II) and press the RECIRC (recirculation) button from FRESH to RECIRC.

Set the temperature knob to the desired test temperature.

Note the following:

LO temperature settings will default to MAX COOL, VENT and RECIR.

HI temperature setting will default to MAX HOT, FLOOR and FRESH.

61 to 89 F will use the automatic climate control logic.

To run the Sensor mode display:

1: Turn the ignition OFF.

2. Press and hold both AUTO and DUAL buttons while starting the engine.

3 Once started release the buttons. The display panel will flash the sensor number followed by the sensor value.

4. To advance to the next sensor, press the rear window defogger button.

5. To cancel press the AUTO button or turn the ignition OFF.
